Louie Giglio : Tattoo

Louie Giglio has a video series called "Tattoo" online at 7:22 org.  The three messages, delivered this past summer to several thousand young singles in Atlanta, are entitled:

1. Marked by the Cross
2. Pure Light
3. Touch of Heaven

It's a good series taking a look at what the real "alternative" lifestye of a Christian should look like, filled with grace but marked by holiness.  Interesting sidenote: this series was kicked off after Louie surfed around MySpace and read profiles of college-age students claiming to know Christ, to go to church or have Jesus as their hero but whose profiles, comments, language, preferences and photos reflected a love and preference for darkness, not holiness and light.  (and, no, Louie doesn't have an account at MySpace--the "louie site" there is an imposter)

Also, his series "Indescribable", which ties in to the song of the same name recorded by Chris Tomlin and written by Perimeter Church worship leader Laura Story-Elvington, is still online at the website of Louie's home church, North Point Community Church.  You can buy a DVD of this message at the Passion store (the one recorded at North Point or the one recorded through Passion).  Here's the summary of that message:

On  a related but separate note, sad news from Multnomah is that Louie and Matt Redman's forthcoming book tentatively titled "Lost in Wonder" has been put on the backburner and won't be released this fall as expected.

Blazing Center DVD | John Piper

Multnomah Publishers (soon to be a part of Random House) has released a DVD series from John Piper ( The Blazing Center--DVDs ).  Captured speaking before high school students, Piper summarizes for a young audience the controversial but thoroughly biblical concept that God is the center of the universe, and the only delight that will leave us satisfied and joyful is the delight of God--not comfort, lack of suffering, or safety. 

For one thing, this DVD should hopefully give pause to those who think that high schoolers won't listen to anything that isn't tattooed, loud, and goofy, or that they are not interested in deep theology or the things of God.  Although this is presented in lecture format (with occasional interviews and commentary from high school students present), Piper summarizes well the concepts he has taught over the years in various volumes and the students seem to be quite attentive and interested in what Piper has to say. 

WIth fall upon us, and winter just around the corner, maybe you are looking for a Bible study for your small group.  This would be an ideal selection, not just for high school students, but for the older set as well.  A study guide (The Blazing Center Study Guide )is available for purchase, and DesiringGod Ministries has package deals available.  Their website also provides a brief promo video, and also notes that versions purchased directly from them are encoded for worldwide distribution.

Louie Giglio has begun posting snippets of the new Passion DVD at the Passion blog this week.

First mentioned here a few weeks ago, the new DVD now looks like it should be in stores as early as next Tuesday.

Chazown | Craig Groeschel

No, it's not an item on a menu at Macaroni Grill.  It's "Chazown," a Hebrew word for "vision."  Craig Groeschel, pastor of LifeChurch.tv in Oklahoma, wants to help people get off the sidelines and get involved in the action of ministry, and has written this book to help them do so.

Without a doubt, Americans seem to struggle with this idea of figuring out what God wants you to do with your life.  The myriad of choices available is, at times, paralyzing.  While some do nothing but wonder what they are supposed to do, others wander through life enjoying trivialities and essentially wasting their life.  As one who has written and spoken on this subject more than perhaps any other, it is a topic close to my heart and one that evokes considerable passion and emotion.
