Comments

I appreciate your comments and transparency. I have struggled with the same thoughts on "worship leading" (and in all honesty, continue to struggle at times). One concept that has been pivotal in how I view worship and "lead" worship, is when I learned and realized that Jesus is both the object of our worship and OUR worship leader or our "New Testament High Priest"

You're exactly right, which is why firing the worship leader is NOT a cure-all. As I mentioned, at NHC, we believe (and therefore spend a lot of time teaching and exemplifying) that worship is so much more than our singing and our 1:15 on Sunday morning.

This post is only one piece of the puzzle...I encourage you to read the other parts of the series.

So, to turn your comment back to you...what else does your church do to teach that worship is more than music/Sunday morning?

I understand what you are saying, and I agree with what you are saying. The only thing is, people don't just instinctively understand that. I can say that with confidence because clearly they are not doing it already, that is, understanding what worship is and all. There is still a misconception that it is that hour on Sunday morning.

So, they need someone to help lead them into that understanding.
