Video: What Is Worship?

Posted by The Editors

Northland Church in Longwod, Florida, a suburb north of Orlando, has produced a documentary-type video in which leadership discusses the topic of worship in general, while also providing a behind the scenes look at what is involved in preparing for corporate worship weekly:

Everything in the Christian life begins and ends in worship. We believe our greatest privilege and most glorious calling as Christians is to gather to  worship the living God for Who He is and what He has done. Here is a 'look' into our corporate worship philosophy as well as a 'behind-the-scenes' view of a weekend worship event at Northland.

They have made the video available free for either downloading or streaming.  It's a little lengthy but well worth watching both for the commentary on worship and the look behind the scenes of what is involved in setting up for Sunday worship.

Incidentally, Northland Church and it's pastor, Joel Hunter, was recently featured on the Weather Channel as an example of a "green" orthodox, evangelical church seeking to preach the gospel and care for the environment.  Hunter is the author of Right Wing, Wrong Bird and A New Kind of Conservative.

Wrapping an environmental cause in a church vision is very dangerous. Pastor Joel tool some very odd/bad/wrong interpretations of scripture to back himself up. Environmentalism is the worship of nature, putting glorification into nature, into creation, and exaltation above man who is to have "dominion over the earth". Claiming Genesis 2:15 is about not polluting is pretty crazy. Claiming "His will on earth makes us take up certain causes", is also a distortion. That scripture should only make us take up 1 cause, God's heavenly kingdom on earth. As much as Pastor Joel wants to translate everything into physical, flesh relevance the scripture is a spiritual call and prayer about spreading the gospel of Christ.
