"I get so wrapped up in being in God’s presence that I sometimes loose the place in the song."
May I just say, "Praise God for that!" This brings to mind the popular song, "I Can Only Imagine." What will we do when we are standing in the presence of our amazing and awesome God? There are many who long for such an expression of worship in God's presence that the worship leader loses sight of him/herself, the program, and the words on the screen-- and is focused only on God. Seeing someone so moved by God is humbling, even if it's confusing to the band. As a worship leader myself, this has been my heart's desire, to lose sight of the people in front of me, my voice in my head, the blaring band music, etc. And sometimes the practice sessions have felt more like "worship" than the service because it didn't matter if "mistakes" or missed cues occurred there. If the worship leaders or lead worshippers can see God and sense His presence, then perhaps we can offer that to those we lead. Sometimes, in fact most times, we have to pray that God moves inspite of us. Because no matter where we are spiritually, the congregation is full of people in many different spiritual places. God meets each person right where they are, if they will let Him. It's the working of the Holy Spirit, not the working of the worship leader.
